Jamil Shakoor, LMSW, PT

Jamil is an ultra-endurance athlete, trainer, and psychotherapist based in Brooklyn, NY. He holds a personal training certification, a BA in psychology, and an MSW in clinical social work.

His coaching style is informed by over a decade of experience taking on physical challenges demanding a great deal of endurance, strength, and mental resilience, such as multiple 100-mile races and the entire Spartan Race series. His approach is a holistic one, drawing from his education in psychology and clinical practice, along with lessons learned in the weight room and on the trails. His practice is a thoughtful blend of grit and grace.

Jamil completed courses in rehabilitation through the Postural Restoration Institute. His understanding of biomechanics and the etiology of common chronic conditions such as knee, shoulder, neck, low-back, and hip pain help him reduce the risk of injury in his client’s and support those in need of rehabilitation.

His favorite projects include facilitating clients transition to a health promoting lifestyle, a way of being they can feel proud of. He also enjoys coaching for extreme performances like Spartan Races, ultra marathons, law enforcement and military prep.
